The first of two major official international tournaments of the original and traditional indoor soccer had its draw of keys and pairings of games in an event held today at the headquarters of the World Indoor Soccer Association in Asunción.
The event was chaired by Dr. Rolando Alrcón Rios, head of the organization, directed by Dr. José Ortigoza and broadcast on the organization's audiovisual platforms.
The competition will start on Tuesday, October 2 at the Coliseo del Café in Armenia, Colombia. The participating teams were placed in the two series in which they were placed, as determined by chance:
Group A: Sport Azucena de Coronel Oviedo (Paraguay), CEFES (Brazil), Caciques del Quindio (Colombia) and Montsant (Catalonia)
Group B: Pando's helm (Uruguay), Deportivo Automar (Venezuela), Calvario Latino (Mexico) and Pharaohs of Pitalito (Colombia)
This edition of the Intercontinental Club Cup is the 16th in history, which began in 1996 when in its first edition Bradesco of Brazil defeated Interviú Lloyds of Spain.
The competition initially included a direct duel between two teams, champions of America and Europe, later changing its format with the inclusion of more teams. It became an annual event after the pandemic, with this edition being the third consecutive one. In the last two editions held, Simón Bolivar (Paraguay) was champion in Mexico 2023 and Faraones de Pitalito (Colombia) won the last edition on their land, whose title they will defend this year.
