INDOOR FOOTBALL TURNED 93 YEARS

On September 8, 1930, indoor soccer was born, which today celebrates 93 years of existence. The Uruguayan professor Juan Carlos Ceriani, father of the discipline, created the eleven initial rules with which it was born, at the headquarters of the Christian Association of Youth of Montevideo and from there it expanded first to Brazil, then to Paraguay and all of South America and the world. The euphoria produced by the Olympic titles of 1924 and 1928 and the first World Cup that Uruguayan football had just won in 1930 at the Centenario stadium, provoked superlative enthusiasm to the point that no one wanted to practice in closed or open gyms. on the fields reserved for other modalities a discipline other than soccer, which was made difficult by the reduced dimensions of the stages and the ball bounces. It was thus based on handball, basketball, and even water polo and creating a heavy ball that does not hit, with only five players on the field (basketball), duration of the game of 40 minutes (basketball), small goals (handball), measurements of the field (handball) and regulations related to goalkeepers (water polo), charged life the modality that today is practically expanded worldwide. In 1965 in Asunción the South American Confederation was founded and in the Comuneros stadium the first international event in the world was held, which the Paraguayan team ended up winning (South American championship in which Brazil was runner-up, Uruguay third and Argentina fourth). Salonismo today is managed and directed at an ecumenical level, by the AMFutsal, which is headed by an international and local leader, Dr. Rolando Alarcón Rios, a great fighter who, like other pioneers, and references of the present, raises the flag of the independence of this discipline and its recognized identity beyond the vain attempts of appropriation (which it has managed to endure and repel to this day), by other unscrupulous organizations.
