The World Futsal Association, the only global organization that manages the destiny of indoor football, has designated Ibagué as the venue for the 2025 World Indoor Football Club Championship.
The Mayor of Ibagué, Johana Aranda, said: “We are very happy, I want to thank everyone who trusted us, we held a South American indoor soccer tournament here last April and that helped us generate a great atmosphere among the international directors.”
For his part, Alfonso Ospina, president of the Tolima Indoor Football League, said that the city is up to the task of hosting competitions of this magnitude. “We know that today we are the venue for major events. Here I would like to highlight the work of the Mayor and the Imdri team. This motivates us to request competitions that have a great impact,” said Ospina.
The organization has announced that the tournament will feature the participation of 16 teams from five continents and will take place from May 5 to 12 at the Coliseo Mayor in the Sports Park.
In the coming days, delegates from the AMF technical committee are expected to arrive in the Musical Capital. They will evaluate aspects complementary to the sports scene, such as hotels, restaurants, telecommunications, internal transportation, among others.
The Coliseo Mayor has a modern design, with a playing surface of 1,188 m2 that meets international standards for sports such as indoor soccer, volleyball and basketball. It has a spectator capacity of 5,800 people with the possibility of expanding to approximately 6,500.
Additionally, it has a private lower level that handles all technical, logistical and sporting matters with administration, storage, gathering, stage, warehouses, dressing rooms for judges, athletes, doping control, technical control, security room, showers, bathrooms, changing rooms, infirmary, massage room, press room, protocol and volunteering, features that will allow it to host, if required, continental and world events.
